 Oil & Gas Experience

AMI specializes in large tank farms, process piping, terminals, and other projects with extensive mechanical and equipment installations. Years of tank experience allows AMI to be dependable and cost competitive in serving your storage needs. Field erected tanks are constructed to API specifications for storage of all types of petroleum and chemical compounds. Applications may include storage of crude oil, fuel oil, diesel, gasoline, ethanol, sulfur, brine, or other industrial compounds. Listed below are a few projects from our portfolio. Elmendorf AFB Hydrant Fueling Project Phase I
This project included the construction of two new 1,590-cubic meter (10,000 barrel) above ground welded steel jet fuel (JP-8) storage tanks with impervious dikes and internal floating pans; installation of 2,900m of 350mm nominal diameter (DN350) single-wall stainless steel pipe. Fifteen 38 L/s below grade, aircraft fueling hydrant outlets; connections to the existing DN250 issue pipe; construction of a 152 L/s POL pump house/operations building; construction of a truck fill stand; and complete site improvements including pavement, two access roads, utilities, and lights. Demolition activities included three pump houses, 14 USTs, underground piping and valve pits.

Elmendorf AFB Hydrant Fueling Project Phase II
This project was nearly identical to Phase I, but included extensive concrete-paving and hardstand parking for eleven C-130 aircraft. Other elements of this contract included: construction of a Type III 152 liter-per-second (2,400 GPM) fueling system, which also includes two 10,000-barrel aboveground operating tanks. The project also included one 152 liter-per-second pump house, 26 hydrant outlets, one truck fill stand, four pantographs, one pantograph storage shelter, 14,000 LF of stainless steel pipeline with an additional 6,500 LF of service piping. Also included in this contract was the demolition of six pump houses, eighteen hydrant outlets, thirty one underground storage tanks and asbestos coated piping.

AIA Concourse C Apron
This project was included with the main phase of the five-level, 442,135 sf Concourse "C" addition at Ted Steven's International Airport in Anchorage, Alaska. Alaska Mechanical, Inc. was the mechanical subcontractor to Kiewit Construction. We installed eighteen hydrant fueling pits and related piping to support nine new aircraft gates. This included over 4,000 lineal feet of coated steel pipe with sizes reaching 16 inches in diameter.

Saint Paul Island Bulk Fuel Storage Facility
This project was built for a community on an island in the middle of the Bering Sea. This project consisted of two phases of tank work, the installation of pumping and control facilities, as well as 8,000 lineal feet of a cathodically-protected eight-inch pipeline. The first phase of tank work consisted of relocating (approximately two miles) and repairing seven existing fuel tanks, six 25,000 gallon tanks and one 30,000 gallon tank. The second part was the field erection and installation of two new 600,000 gallon tanks. Along with the construction of the tanks, the scope also included the control systems, pumps and transfer systems, pumping facilities, office and control buildings. A full containment system was installed with liner. The containment also contained catch basins and an oil/water separation system to drain the tank farm containment.
